Custom Thumbnail for Instagram#1526

Hello

It would be great to be able to add custom thumbnails for Instagram video posts and reels. The 10 thumbnails automatically generated are okay but most times they’re not very clear and does not do justice to the content we are posting.

Additionally, it would help us create a a feed which aligns with our branding and at the same time look aesthetically pleasing.

While it is still not possible to choose a custom thumbnail for regular Instagram, videos, it is now possible to do that for Instagram Reels 🚀

You can choose a custom thumbnail for Instagram Reels within Publer.

To do that, Upload the Reel > Click on the camera icon underneath the Reel > Select the custom thumbnail.

Keep in mind, this only works for Instagram Reels. For regular Instagram videos, there is still no update – you can only choose from the 10 existing/generated thumbnails.

We hope that soon the Instagram API team will be able to support the same feature for regular videos.
