More options on CSV import#480

Please add in the CSV import template the rest of the post options, like signature, follow-up comment, auto-delete, etc.

Thank you.

We would like the ability to set the image watermark from the CSV file as well.

Yes! This feature is crucial for managing multiple (10-100+) clients. As much as I want better live collaboration with different departments (creatives, copywriters, social media managers), if Publer can’t get the basics right for IMPORT CSV, it’s hard to shift all the clients over to the platform.

To add:

  • location
  • don’t crop photo as photos most time is pre-cropped already
  • choose network to post to

Hi Andy,

First of all, we will NEVER, absolutely NEVER crop photos or reduce their quality, regardless of how you upload them to Publer.

Keep in mind that social networks have different requirements which may cause the photos to look cropped.

Instagram for example will indeed crop the photos if they’re not within their required aspect ratio.

Locations cannot be added via a CSV file because, in order for tagging to work, you need the location ID, which is done automatically in the back scene when you use Publer.

The same goes for mentions.

Another reason we don’t allow automatic tags & mentions is because they’re prone to be used by abusers. Most social networks, Twitter for example, categorically prohibit the overuse of tags & mentions.

The sole purpose of the CSV functionality is to allow you to create posts in bulk, regardless of where you’re posting them to.

Once the CSV import has completed, you can then choose the social accounts and make any last changes to the posts.

There are no plans to change the way CSV imports work.

Hope this helps

Hi
I just finished reading the entire article. It’s almost perfect. Almost!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the most important functionality—the one that would help the most. That would be the ability to specify which social media accounts each row in the CSV should post to.

For example, I manage 12 Telegram accounts and 12 Twitter accounts, posting different content daily on each. That’s a total of 720 posts. If this feature were available, I could generate just one or two CSVs instead of having to go through the import process 24 times.

Do you plan to implement this improvement in the future?

Regardless, what you’ve built is already a huge help! The ability to schedule Twitter threads and add images directly from URLs will significantly streamline the workflow.

Thank you for all the hard work!

Hi Ivo,

Unfortunately, no plans to change our entire infrastructure (yes, that would require building everything from scratch).

The CSV import, just like manually adding new posts or uploading multiple media files, is solely for populating the composer, thus unattached to your connected social accounts.

To make up for this flaw in design, we will soon start working on our public API for end-to-end automation.

Hope to have your understanding,
Ervin

As promised, here’s a detailed video walkthrough of the newest CSV template!

Hi Ervin,

The API should definitely solve most challenges, and I hope it’s implemented soon!

In the meantime, here are some suggestions that could help, especially for those without technical expertise:

  • Upload multiple CSV files at once.
  • A dedicated area to track imported files, errors, import dates, record counts, and an option to download CSVs. This would also allow reusing files for quick adjustments in the composer.
  • A way to assign the same account or multiple accounts to all rows in the CSV via a specific column.
  • Support for media uploads with labels, a date filter, and the option to use the image title as a caption.
  • It would also help if error messages, like Twitter/X’s duplicate post restriction, specified which post, account, and date they refer to.
    Thanks for considering these!

Best,
Ivo

Hi Ivo, and thank you so much for the suggestions.

If possible, can you please create a new submission for each suggestion?

It would help us prioritize them accordingly.

I cannot promise you any more CSV updates at the moment as we have already moved on to the next thing.

Thank you,
Ervin
