Media Library 3.0 Improvements#2860

The “2.0” Media Library (current May 2026) is a big improvement from the previous iteration, but there’s still much needed. Would love to see these improvements, a couple of which are mentioned in other posts.

1) Full File Manager/Explorer interface – Folders are awesome. Manaing them, not so much.
a) Add a file tree to the left side, so it’s easy to move between folders
b) If no tree, add “back to top/root” link, to top (next to “back”. If you’re 3-4 folders deep, it’s a pain in the butt to click click click click click just to get back to the root.

2) Allow editors to move photos! Give them same permissions on adding/deleting. They can move / manage the photos they upload. Giving them ability to upload and delete but not move is just dumb.

3) Add a filter by team member, so we can see who uploaded what

4) In the window that appears when adding an image to a post, add the same controls, especially lables

5) add search! Search file names or captions.

6) SELECT ALL when in grid view!
