Alt text is one of the most important and commonly used accessability needs. if you are going to use AI, at least start with using it for good purposes. So an option to enable Alt text being added by default for all uploaded images. Bake in accessability standards to the tool.
EDIT FOR CLARITY:
I believe you have misunderstood the feedback. I’ll try to explain in a bit more detail and I’ll point out the link you sent makes no mention of the AI assistant.
AI tooling like GPT4 is capable to seeing an image and then giving an Alt Text description of that image. This is a capability your AI assistant is not capable of.
While yes you can use the AI assistant while in the Alt text panel, it’s basically useless for this purpose. If you need to write more text, for the AI to then condense it’s just not fit, really it makes very little sense to have the AI assist in that box at all without this functionality.
In an ideal world by default AI would read every image uploaded and generate alt text so you don’t even need to prompt it. Then it would be inserted whenever you use that image within a social media platform that enables it.
In a slightly less ideal but more buissiness funcational world given you may have limits on API requests etc it would make sense to have a button on the alt text pop-up screen to get the AI to read the image and provide the alt text. Hell the prompt you would need is effectivly already written in the Alt text field as the placeholder, it just needs the functionality for the AI to see the image and respond.

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback!
You can use AI when adding the alt text manually, however it’s not possible yet to make it a default option for all images you upload to Publer.
When inserting the alt text make sure to click on the AI Assist button.
