Mastodon: change max character length based on server's maximum characters#1760

If a Mastodon instance has a maximum character length set (one instance I know has a max length of 3000 characters) then Publer should automatically change the maximum length of the post to schedule.

This information can be found using the Mastodon API, under view server information, there is a max_characters under statuses.

The wrong character limit is a show stopper for me. AFAIK, my instance’s max chars setting is on par with LinkedIn. I want to be able to send the same message to LinkedIn and Mastodon.

Great news everyone!

We’re now relying on your Mastodon server to enforce the character limit for your posts on the Publer web platform!

We automatically sync this info, but you can always enforce it following these steps.

This functionality will be rolled out to our mobile apps in the following days.

Thank you for your patience and make sure to share Publer with your Mastodon communities.
